The five individuals who claimed allegedly to be security escorts of the suspect in a hit-and-run case in Cebu City were released from detention.
The five men were taken to the Mandaue City Hall of Justice on February 13, 2026 for the filing of a case on violation to Republic Act 11917 or Private Security Services Industry Act.
This after their alleged claim to be private escorts of 21-year-old driver, Sean Andrew Pajarillo, who ran over and killed 23-year-old businessman, Kingston Cheng, in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City dawn on February 8.
Their legal counsel pointed out that the men were acquaintances of the Pajarillo family, not bodyguards, who sought to visit the suspect.
In a resolution, it was explained that the court does not have jurisdiction over the case.
Rather, based on the law, the jurisdiction is with the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief who is also responsible for imposing penalty if need be.
The Mandaue City Police have confirmed that the five were released from Station 2.
