A three-year-old boy and his seven-month-old sister were allegedly killed by their own mother while they were asleep in Barangay Magsaysay, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
Based on investigation, the children’s grandfather found the victims and suspect inside the bedroom covered in blood.
The children sustained fatal injuries after the suspect allegedly slit their neck. The woman also allegedly stabbed herself.
“Nakit-an sa lolo, ang iyahang anak ug ang iyahang duha ka apo nga nagbuy-od na sa kwarto tungod sa panghitabo iyahang gihakwat ang anak kay buhi pa man nangutana kini nga kinsa may nagbuhat niini sa inyuha o ikaw ba ang nagbuhat niini di siya ka-istorya kay duna pud siya samad sa liog ning tando na lang siya,” Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Capt. Jusibelle Abellon, said.
Authorities learned that the woman had a fight with her husband before she stabbed her children.
“Nilakaw man ang amahan sa mga bata anang gabhiuna ning byahe kay byahedor man ang amahan mao to nag away sila na found out na pagka-buntag nahitabo ang krimen,” Abellon added.
“Naka-istorya pa pag-abot sa hospital gipangutana siya sa iyang ig-agaw kinsay nagpatay sa mga bata ana siya nga “ako” nganong gipatay man nimo ana pud siya grabe na ang problema walay gatas akong… hinay mokaon akong mga anak may pag magsabay mi ana siya,” the aunt of the victims’ father, Arcelly Pescos Rafael, said.
The woman is confined in a hospital after undergoing surgery.
Authorities said the mother may face two counts of parricide charges. However, the victims’ father reportedly expressed that he may no longer pursue a case against his wife.
“Ang kaso possible ipasaka kay two counts of parricide but ang investigator nag-prepare na og non-interestedness ang amahan sa mga bata, di na siya mo-file og kaso against the mother suspect,” Abellon said.
