A 55-year-old rider and his 11-year-old grandson were killed after a trailer truck crashed into the motorcycle they were riding in Barangay Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
Based on investigation, the victims were traveling from Opol, Misamis Oriental when the incident happened.
Police said another motorcycle reportedly slowed down at an intersection in Barangay Bulua when it was hit by the victims’ motorcycle.
The victims’ motorcycle then veered to the other lane where it was hit and ran over by the trailer truck.
“Gikan sila og Opol, pag-abot intersection sa Bulua, ni-menor ang mio kay intersection man ang nabantayan sa backrider nga naay nibangga sa ila nga usa ka motor pagkabangga ang katong motor nga nakabangga didto nipaingon sa pikas dalan na tunong pud nga naay trailer truck nagpadulong didto sila nipasok sa trailer ug nalatayan sa ligid,” Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cagayan de Oro City Police (TEU-COCPO) Investigator, Chief Master Sergeant Charles Lee Ebueza, said.
The victims died on the spot.
The truck driver was taken into police custody.
“Kung mahimo inig abot sa intersection mu-menor ta unya kining mga bata nga dili makaabot sa foot rest bawal gyud na siya dayon kung mahimo mag-helmet,” Ebueza added.
