At least 24 employees of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Binalbagan in Negros Occidental were reportedly found positive for illegal drug use.
Among the 24 individuals are contractual and casual employees, according to Mayor Emmanuel Aranda, based on drug test results on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
Around 400 employees underwent a drug test on the second weekend of February in line with the LGU’s campaign against illegal drugs.
The mayor said he will order the non-renewal of the employees' contract based on the said results.
“May positive talaga. Nasa 400 ang aming ipina-drug test, casual at contractual. Hindi na talaga ire-renew. Hindi na tatanggapin. Indi yan pwede,” Aranda pointed out.
