A 56-year-old man allegedly involved in illegal sale of firearms was arrested while three guns were seized in an operation in Barangay Matampay, Marawi City.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) identified as alias “Mario,” a resident of Barangay Palao, Bobong, Lanao del Sur.

CIDG said the suspect was allegedly caught in the act of possessing and selling three firearms without the necessary permit and license or authority to own and possessed guns.

Seized from the suspect were a caliber 7.62 M14 rifle, a caliber .45 pistol, and a caliber 40 pistol.

Authorities said the suspect was allegedly involved in gunrunning activities, operating in Marawi City and other neighboring towns.

“The confiscation of the unlicensed firearms underscores the Unit’s commitment in preventing crimes by removing from circulation and use all instruments of killing and violence,” CIDG said.
