At least 22 families were displaced after a fire hit the boundary of Barangays 37-D and Barangay 76-A in Davao City evening on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

The fire was raised to second alarm before it was placed under control.

“Nakatulog na man mi, mga alas 9 gituktok mi sa silingan nga nasunog daw. Paglingi nako wala na dako na ang kalayo kay mga upat ka balay ra man gikan sa amoa. Gi-safety lang nako ang pamilya nako. Ang amahan nako nga na-mild stroke naa pud didto,” a resident affected, Jeffrey Solera, said.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), at least 11 houses were affected.

The families affected are staying temporarily at the barangay gymnasium.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continue profiling and validating the affected residents.

Barangay officials are also providing immediate assistance, including modular tents and other relief items.

“Sukad kagabii, naa man ang atoang mga brgy. officials giplastar na namo sila dinhi ang amoang modular tent, giready na namo sa ilaha,” Barangay 37-A Administrative Assistant, Edna Duran, said.

BFP is still investigating the cause of the fire and the cost of damage.
