Continuous rains brought by the Shear Line triggered flooding in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur on Thursday, February 19, 2026, prompting several residents to evacuate for safety.
Based on monitoring, the city government said flooding was reported in Barangays Pamaypayan, San Roque, Pamanlinan, Mangagoy, Bucto, Maharlika, Mone, Comawas, Tabon, and Poblacion.
Floodwaters submerged a school and other communities in Sitio Mantuyom, Barangay San Roque.
In Barangay Pamanlinan, at least nine individuals from Sitio San Juan were moved to Pamanlinan Elementary School, which served as an evacuation center.
The city government deployed a backhoe to Barangay Tabon after a creek overflowed and caused flooding in the area.
Preemptive evacuation was also enforced in Gordonas, Barangay Mangagoy and Requino Extension.
Rescue teams were deployed to assist residents affected by the flood.
A landslide was reported in Purok 5, Abihod, Barangay San Antonio, The area became passable at 4:20 p.m.
A tree also fell on NEMSU Road near Sian Bridge, Maharlika, which caused traffic obstruction.
Several areas experienced power interruption shortly before midday due to preventive shutdown after floodwaters rose.
Because of the bad weather, classes in all levels in both public and private schools, and work in government offices were suspended.
Operations and tourist activities at Tinuy-an Falls were also suspended temporarily until further notice.
