A 70-year-old German national perished in Dalaguete, Cebu after his car plummeted into a 600-foot-deep cliff.
He was with a three-year-old child who survived the incident that took place in Barangay Jolomaynon, Dalaguete past 5 p.m. on February 18, 2026.
The car was in total wreck, based on statements from policemen, firefighters, and other rescuers who went down to retrieve his body.
The foreigner’s left arm was severed reportedly due to the hard impact.
It took the responders nearly three hours to retrieve the foreigner.
He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police Major Vincent Zozobrado, chief of Dalaguete Municipal Police Station, said that based on investigation, the car was rolling back, moving out of the parking area.
Across his house is a cliff with a depth of about 600 feet.
"Lisud man noh, patay naman, atua pangagpas naman lang, siguro naanad na sya siguro ba nga matsansa-tsansa, so di nato ma-discount ang possibility, kana imung giingon nga instead of brake, ang accelerator ang iyang natamakan or tungod sa permi na niya kining gibuhat, mura ba’g, na use, familiar na niya siguro. Nasipyat lang gyud sya niadtong higayuna,” Zozobrado said.
The kid, a grandchild of the foreigner's wife, was seated behind the driver's seat.
“Pangpang man ang iyang nakuanan, wala na sya kabawi, mao to nahulog, unya ang sakay niya, 3 years old bataa, apo sa iyang asawa kuno. Then iyang gisiguro ang bata, nga maluwas, mao to ang bata nasangit sa kahoy,” Zozobrado added.
