A 20-year-old woman was arrested in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay on Thursday, February 19, 2026, for allegedly selling substandard computers and cellphones worth nearly P2 million.
According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the suspect was allegedly found in possession of electronic devices that were not type-approved by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), making the items substandard and illegal for trade under consumer protection standards.
During the operation, authorities seized around 35 cellphones, 10 tablets, and two laptop computers worth more than P1.9 million.
CIDG lauded its personnel for busting the illegal trading of consumer products lacking the required government clearances and certifications.
“The accomplishment underscores the CIDG’s commitment in fighting all illegal trading and activities across the country. The CIDG assures the public that it is resolute in enforcing all the laws to protect all consumers and dauntless against all violators and criminals,” CIDG said.
