A 28-year-old woman was arrested in Makato, Aklan for using counterfeit P1,000 bills in buying goods at Makato Public Market.

It was learned that the woman paid to a 65-year-old vendor for “sari-sari” (a variety of goods) worth over P400 on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

She went back to the market on Friday, February 20, to again purchase goods using fake money. But she was already identified through a CCTV footage and was reported immediately to the police.

Based on the initial report of Makato Police, the suspect bought the bogus bills online.

The suspect said she bought at least 10 fake bills.

Police are tracing her other possible victims.

Earlier, a senior citizen-vendor in Ibajay, Aklan fell victim to persons who bought her wares using fake P1,000 bills.
