Tarpaulins and outfits are up for the third staging of the Trillion Peso March against corruption in Iloilo City on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Thousands are expected to participate in the Trillion Peso March version 3.0 in line with the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
According to Msgr. Meliton Oso, director of Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center, progressive groups will first conduct activities in front of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol. Cause-oriented groups and church leaders and members will converge by 1 p.m. at St. Clements Church in La Paz for a procession toward Jaro Cathedral.
“Dahil ito ginugunita natin ang EDSA, and EDSA was a prayerful event, sa halip na speeches, like EDSA, this time, we will pray especially the praying of the rosary at ang procession,” Oso said.
Aside from anti-corruption, anti-political dynasty will also be tackled in the program after the procession.
“Tayo ang People Power laban sa kurapsyon at dinastiya. Bitbit pa rin natin ang ating adbokasiya laban sa nakakainis at nakakahiya na graft and corruption, pero gusto namin na isama na rin ang problema sa political dynasties,” Oso added.
According to Arlie Bosque, secretary general of Kabataan Panay, they also aspire to express sentiments against corruption.
“Mayroon tayong oportunidad na ipamalas at ipakita kung ano tayo katapang na baguhin ang bulok na sistema na mayroon tayo ngayon,” Bosque said.
EDSA People Power Revolution left an indelible mark in Philippine history with the ouster of former strongman Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. in a bloodless popular uprising.
One of those present in EDSA during the People Power Revolution is Ilonggo radio broadcaster Francisco (Ompoy) Pastrana. He was assigned in Metro Manila and had for his coverage the EDSA activities.
"Ang papel that time ng media is masyadong mahirap lalo na kapag nag-cover ka kung minsan, may mga maiko-comment ka na iba sa pag-unawa ng karamihan. Kasi ang mga Marcos loyalist that time, nandiyan talaga,” Pastrana said.
Pastrana prays that more Filipinos would continue what was started at EDSA which is the courageous fight against corruption and a dictatorship.
“Ang masasabi ko lang sa mga kabataan ngayon, pag-aralan niyo ang history at kung ano ang totooong pagmamahal sa ating bayan bilang isang Pilipino,” Pastrana added.
