<p>The public is advised to refrain from gleaning, selling, or consuming all types of shellfish, including &ldquo;alamang&rdquo; (small shrimp or krill) from the waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City, Bohol.</p><p>Based on laboratory analysis done by the Regional Fisheries Laboratory on water collected from Dauis and Tagbilaran City, samples have been found positive for Pyrodinium bahamense, a type of phytoplankton that produces toxins and renders shellfish unsafe for human consumption.</p><p>However, eating fish, squids, and other varieties of shrimps and crabs is allowed, but thorough cleaning and removal of entrails is advised before cooking.</p><p>The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Central Visayas and the local government units are monitoring tightly the situation to further ensure public safety.</p>
