Ilonggos have called for justice again in the staging of Trillion Peso March in Iloilo City.
The march seeks to put an end to political dynasty and corruption in government.
One of the rallyists is Kristin Treñas, spokesperson of Kahublagan Kontra Kurapsyon (KKK). Kristin was in Metro Manila during the EDSA People Power Revolution in 1986. But until now, she is still fighting to end corruption in the Philippines.
“Kung titigil tayo, mawawala ang ating objective, so we have to keep at it! Mula 40 years ago, I was in EDSA and I am still here. The alternative is to allow the usual system to go,” Kristin said.
Most participants of the Trillion Peso March are students from the city and province of Iloilo.
“Makikita naman siguro na puno kami ngayon, kaming mga kabataan so the assertion that the youth is weak is not right and will never be right kasi kami ngayon ang nangunguna sa martsa, kami ang nangunguna sa pag-commemorate ng EDSA People Power," Rea, a student, said.
Liway, another student, said that issues which led to the People Power Revolution are seemingly perennial.
“Andito tayo ngayon hindi lamang bilang mga iskolar ng bayan kundi bilang mga mamayang Pilipino sa panahong tila parang bumabalik na naman ang mga kinakaharap na mga problema natin,” Liway said.
A march toward St. Clements Church in La Paz was also held.
From there, a procession and prayer rally was further held toward the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral where a Holy Mass was celebrated.
