President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. joined the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in inspecting the mechanized production center of the Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) in Mandaue City, Cebu on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the VDRC serves as the "primary production, storage and logistics hub for disaster response operations in the Visayas and Mindanao."
The resource center plays a critical role in "ensuring the timely preparation and distribution of relief goods to communities affected by natural disasters, public health emergencies and other crises."
PCO added that from 2016 to January 2026, the VDRC produced a total of 8,977,512 Family Food Packs (FFPs). During that period, 9,868,445 FFPs were distributed to disaster-affected areas, showing the ongoing movement of relief supplies from prepositioned stocks and continuous production to areas in need. In addition to food aid, the Center also sent 63,009 non-food items (NFIs) to support affected families with essential supplies.
"In July 2025, the VDRC further strengthened its disaster response capabilities by establishing a new Mechanized Production System (MPS) featuring state-of-the-art automatic vacuum packaging lines," PCO also said.
"With the new MPS lines installed, the Center’s daily production has significantly increased, tripling its overall production capacity from 10,000 FFPs to 30,000 FFPs per eight (8)-hour cycle," it said further.
"This development emphasizes the Administration’s ongoing efforts to improve disaster response preparedness and ensure the prompt delivery of essential relief supplies to families in need," PCO underscored.
