A rider and his female companion were injured after unidentified suspects allegedly threw chemical believed to be acid at them while they were traveling on Villarin Street in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.

A video footage showed a jacket hanging on a plant and still emitting smoke after the incident. The jacket was reportedly owned by the victims.

The video also showed the victims being assisted by concerned residents after they suffered burns on the face and body after the incident.

Based on investigation, the suspects reportedly overtook them and splashed a chemical substance believed to be acid directly at their faces, which irritated their eyes and burned parts of their face and body.

According to the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, it has directed personnel of Police Station 4 to conduct an investigation.

Police claimed that no formal report or blotter has been filed yet regarding the incident, and they only learned about the incident through social media.

Emilita Simon, said.

Investigators are now reviewing nearby CCTV footage to identify the suspects.

They have also yet to determine whether there are other victims of similar incidents.
