Vice President Sara Duterte became emotional as she spoke about the situation she and her family are currently facing during a gathering in Davao City on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Duterte was seen shedding tears while delivering her speech, saying she felt nostalgic after seeing her former co-workers in the Davao City Hall and expressing how much she misses Davao and Mindanao.
The Vice President also shared her emotions about being able to spend time with her mother in their home in Davao City.
She said she is always happy to receive invitations to events in the city because these give her the opportunity to go home, see her mother, and spend time with her family.
She shared that returning to the city allows her to rest properly and sleep comfortably.
Ang dili nako mabuhat bisan sa asa,” she said.
According to her, life in Manila has not been easy for her family because they are only renting a house, which makes them feel less comfortable compared to living in their own home in Davao.
So pag makauli mi diri, it's some sort of a safe space para sa amoa sa pamilya,” Duterte said.
During her speech, the Vice President said there are times she thinks it might have been better if she had not run for vice president and, instead, ran again as mayor of Davao City.
Despite the challenges, Duterte said she remains determined to run for president in 2028.
