Police arrested a public school teacher in Dagupan City after a court issued a warrant for alleged violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Authorities served the warrant at past 2 p.m. on February 24, 2026, outside the school where the woman works as a teacher.

Police said the alleged abuse did not happen inside the school but in the barangay. They did not disclose details of the complaint to protect the child involved.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Dagupan City Police. She may post bail of P80,000 for temporary release.

Police said the teacher denies the accusation.

“Actually, she is denying, but there is a warrant of arrest na kailangan nating i-implement. So, ginawa natin ‘yung nararapat kung anuman ang inuutos ng batas,” PCpt. Vladimer Custer Austria, commander of Dagupan City Police Station 4, said.

Barangay officials declined to give a statement when asked about the incident.

The school principal also refused to speak on camera. School officials said that although the alleged incident did not take place on campus, they will coordinate with the Schools Division Office (SDO) for proper action.

In a statement posted on social media, the DepEd Dagupan City Division said it respects the legal process in the case involving the teacher. It also assured the public that it will cooperate with authorities in the investigation and will implement appropriate administrative proceedings in line with DepEd rules.

The teacher is yet to release a statement as of press time.
