An alleged member of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Maguid Group linked to the 2018 bombing in General Santos City was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

According to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the suspect was arrested at NAIA Terminal 1 on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, by virtue of a warrant for multiple counts of frustrated murder issued by a court in General Santos City.

NBI said the charges stemmed from the 2018 improvised explosive device (IED) attack in the city that left eight civilians injured critically, including a three-year-old child.

Based on report, the suspect was allegedly played a central role in the planning and execution of the attack.

The suspect allegedly attempted to evade prosecution by fleeing to the United States.

“However, the reach of the law proved global; following his detention by U.S. Immigration Authorities for violations of immigration laws, he was processed for deportation and met with immediate arrest by NBI agents the moment he touched down on Philippine soil,” NBI said.
