The Cebu Commission on Worship – Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission has released additional intentions for the Prayer of the Faithful for the war in the Middle East.
The Prayer of the Faithful if part of the Catholic Mass during which participants respond to the Word of God by offering intercessions. It usually follows the Homily.
According to christianity.com, followers of Christ ”gather together as a church body to make intercessory petitions for the Church, global issues, individuals, and their community.”
In a Facebook post by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu, the commission calls for the faithful “to lift up a plea for peace across the world.”
“As the Church journeys together in faith, we are especially invited this March to lift up a plea for peace across the world — in homes and communities, in nations torn by conflict, and in hearts longing for reconciliation.”
The additional intentions for the month of March read:
For the war in the Middle East:
We earnestly pray for peace in the Middle East and the world. May God purify the world of all violence, greed, and misuse of power that bring suffering and death to many. Let us pray to the Lord.
For the nations in pursuit of peace:
Let us pray that nations move toward effective disarmament, particularly nuclear disarmament, and that world leaders choose the path of dialogue and diplomacy instead of violence. Let us pray to the Lord.
For the victims of war:
We pray for those who suffer because of the scourge of war that peace may be granted to them soon, and may every people live in traquility and freedom. Let us pray to the Lord.
