A purok leader was shot dead while driving his tricycle in General Santos City over the weekend.

Authorities identified the victim as Danilo Porras, 59, a resident of Purok Mudia, Barangay Labangal.

Based on investigation, the victim was heading home with his wife when they stopped briefly at the place of the incident believing that someone was interested to buy the land he was selling.

“Gikan sila nangompra unya nakakita ang iyang bana naay tapok, nakaingon nga buyer na unya nihapit siya, then naay nisakay nga babae, nag-istorya-istorya sila Dani,” the victim’s sister-in-law said.

When the victim was about to leave the area with his wife and another woman who boarded their vehicle, the suspects arrived on board a motorcycle and shot the victim in the head.

The suspects’ faces were covered.

“Wala pud siya ka kuan nga gipusil ang iyang bana… ubos baya ilang lingkuranan sa tricycle… pagpusil, derecho diri dayun sa ulo…” the victim’s sister-in-law added.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to identify the perpetrators but have identified persons of interest.

Investigators are eyeing land dispute and personal grudge as motives.

“Considering yung victim natin is purok kagawad, kung may mga away sa lupa isa siya sa mga nagsesettle, and at the same time kung may mga nakaaway yung ating biktima,” Police Station 2 Commander, Major Jethro Dave Doligas, said.
