Police arrested a 22-year-old construction worker in Dagupan City by virtue of a warrant for child abuse involving a 16-year-old girl, authorities said.
Officers served the warrant in Barangay Poblacion Oeste on Saturday, February 28, 2026, where the suspect and the teenager live near each other.
Police said the girl’s parents found that the two were in a relationship, which led to the filing of the case. Authorities did not disclose further details to protect the minor.
The suspect must post bail of P180,000 for temporary release. He refused to give a statement.
Police urged parents to guide their children closely, especially in choosing friends and partners.
“Bantayan po natin ang ating mga anak lalo na sa pakikipagkaibigan sa kung sino-sino at gabayan natin sila para hindi sila magaya sa mga ganitong sitwasyon,” PLt. Salvador Cacho, officer-in-charge of Dagupan City Police Station 6, said.
The victim’s family is yet to release a statement, as of this writing.
