At least 80 houses were razed to the ground after a fire hit a residential area near the newly opened Maa-Magtuod flyover in Barangay Magtuod, Davao City afternoon on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The fire was reported around 1:15 p.m. and was raised to second alarm after a few minutes.
Firefighters responded immediately to contain the fire.
Video footage showed several motorists stopped and turned back due to poor visibility caused by thick smoke from the fire.
Fire Senior Insp. Frances Sendrijas, spokesperson of the Davao City Fire District, more than 100 families were displaced.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and determining the cost of damage.
A resident was reported to have experienced difficulty in breathing and was given immediate medical attention.
