Anti-narcotics agents destroyed a marijuana plantation worth nearly P9 million in Kalingalan Caluang, Sulu on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-9 (PDEA-9), police officers, and military troops burned around 11,500 fully grown marijuana plants at a site covering around 3,000 square meters in Barangay Masjid Punjungan.
PDEA-9 said the cultivators sensed the presence of the approaching team and evaded arrest.
They will likely face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165).
“PDEA RO 9 has intensified its efforts to locate marijuana plantation sites for eradication and identify individuals involve in the cultivation for their apprehension and filing of criminal complaint for violation of Section 16, Article II of RA 9165-Cultivation of Marijuana Plants against them,” PDEA-9 said.
