A swarm of tamban or tuloy fish washed ashore in Barangay Taguilon, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte during around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, during the lunar eclipse.

Some residents near a wharf stopped their activities when they noticed the fish at the shore.

They then collected the fish using containers.

A resident said they were very happy of the find because it is not all the time that they receive such blessing.

“Malipayon kaayo mi sir, uy… talagsa ra ba mi makatilaw nga ing ana nga grasya unya libre pa,” Geng Marla Bantilan, a resident who uploaded a video online, said.

Some of the catch was shared with neighbors who arrived later.

“Among gipanghatag sa uban kanang naabot nga wala na sila ka-kuan, nakaabot, nga bibo kaayo, gipangsugba, gikilaw, tinola. Nakalibre mi sud-an kay nagkamahal man gud ang isda karon sir,” Bantilan added.

Bantilan also said that this was the second time they witnessed what they call a “tuloy rush” in the area. The first incident happened about two years ago.

State weather bureau PAGASA explained that the fish swarm had no direct connection to the blood moon.

“This is an isolated case nga dunay pagdagsang sa maong lugar tungod ang lugar daghan gyud og isda. Ikaduha, ang blood moon, dili kaayo hayag compared sa full moon nga kung naa may full moon nga mahitabo sa lugar, naa pud portion nga specific nga isda nga maggawas kung sobra kahayag,” PAGASA-DOST 12 Chief Meteorological Officer, Engr. Jaymar Artigas, said.
