Three people were injured after a parked van rolled downhill and crashed into several stalls along Session Road in Baguio City, police said.
The incident happened at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, and injured a stall owner, one worker, and a customer who was buying food at the time.
One of the victims said she saw the van rolling toward the stalls but could not move away in time.
“Noong bumibili ako, kitang-kita ko may nagmamaneho na bata doon sa SUV. Dina-drive noong bata. Tapos noong nakita ko, humiyaw na ako, ‘yung van, ‘yung van,’ sabi kong ganun. Tapos makikita mo ‘yung bata, kinabig niya ‘yung manibela. ‘Yun ‘yung bumangga siya doon sa tindahan ng seafoods at doon sa kebab, which is nandoon ako,” Ma. Victoria Dollete, one of the people injured, said.
An initial investigation by the Baguio City Police Office showed that the driver parked the van along Father Carlu Street and left his six-year-old child inside the vehicle.
Police said the engine was turned off and the handbrake was on. However, the child reportedly moved the handbrake, causing the van to roll down toward Session Road.
“Naka-handbreak, naka-off naman. ‘Yun nga lang, ‘yung pag-park niya ay pababa kasi syempre pababa ‘yung terrain ng kalsada, nakaharap ‘yung ulo ng sasakyan. Kaya noong naibaba ‘yung handbreak, gumulong ‘yung sasakyan kasi pababa ‘yun,” Police Major Marcy Grace Marron, spokesperson of the Baguio City Police Office, said.
Authorities said the three people injured are now in stable condition. The six-year-old child inside the van was not hurt.
The van owner has already talked with the victims and stall owners whose businesses were damaged in the crash.
The driver and other people involved in the incident are yet to release a statement.
