Authorities arrested two Chinese nationals in Iligan City for allegedly misrepresenting themselves as Filipinos.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Bureau of Immigration (BI), police officers, and military troops in Barangay Mahayahay on Wednesday, March 4, 2026,
According to the Army’s 1st Infantry Division (1ID), the suspects, 51 and 50 years old, were arrested for alleged misrepresentation and violations related to their work visa conditions under the Philippine Immigration Act.
Based on investigation, the suspects were found to be living in the Philippines for nearly 20 years and engaging in business activities.
Authorities said the suspects were also found to be allegedly using Filipino aliases in official documents.
The military added that one of the suspects obtained a late-registered Filipino birth certificate.
Seized from the suspects were Philippine driver’s licenses under their respective Filipino aliases.
The suspects were brought to the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade headquarters after the operation and will be turned over to the BI for legal action.
