Authorities have filed murder charges against a man caught on a livestream video speaking with the late Barangay Chairman Oscar Bucol of Tres de Mayo, Digos City, shortly before Bucol was shot dead in November 2025.

Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) Director, Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, said three other unidentified individuals were also included in the charges filed on February 27, 2026.

Bucol’s family reportedly assisted authorities in identifying the man from the livestream.

The suspect was seen in the livestream returning a wallet to Bucol a few minutes before he was shot.

“Pina-file-lan siya ng murder at three other John Does. At ang complainant po natin doon ay ang Bucol family and they were able to assess, evaluate, analyze that that person is really involved in the commission of the crime,” Rosete said.

In an earlier interview, the suspect denied any involvement in the killing.

“Akong katuyuan didto, niadto ko didto, kato lang gyud wallet gi-endorse kay Kapitan. Wala gani ko kahibalo unsa gyuy ana, naa ba gyuy mahitabo,” the suspect said.

Authorities are now waiting for a warrant of arrest to be issued against the suspects, including the three unidentified individuals on board the vehicle used in the killing.

“Well, based doon sa mga CCTV may mga tao doon sa loob ng Innova. So, ‘yun yung mga John Does, tatlo,” Rosete added.

Investigation into other persons of interest continues.
