Authorities found suspected smuggled footwear worth about P25 million during an inspection of a warehouse in Apalit, Pampanga.
Operatives inspected the warehouse in Barangay Calantipe after the Bureau of Customs issued a letter of authority for the operation on March 4, 2026.
Authorities said they knocked and called out to anyone inside the warehouse repeatedly but received no response. Because of this, operatives opened the facility in the presence of barangay officials to carry out the inspection.
Inside, they found boxes of footwear believed to have been smuggled into the country.
The items seized will undergo further inspection and verification to determine possible violations of customs laws and regulations.
The Bureau of Customs has started inventory, documentation, and other legal procedures related to the case.
No suspects were arrested because no one was found in the warehouse during the operation. Investigation continues to identify the owner of the warehouse.
