FUEL COST

The Department of Energy has said continuing concerns over tensions in the Middle East may push fuel pump prices even higher than projected.

In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB, Atty. Rino Abad, director of DOE’s Oil Industry Management Bureau, said the "minimum estimates" for price increases in the second week of March are as follows:

  • Diesel — P19.00 per liter
  • Gasoline — P9.00 per liter
  • Kerosene — P31.00 per liter

These prices are higher than earlier projections based on the first three days of trading.

As of March 7, 2026, DOE is still awaiting the decision of oil companies on the appeal of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. for a staggered implementation of price increases.
