Several gas stations in Davao City have reportedly run out of diesel and gasoline over the weekend.
Diesel and gasoline prices at gas stations in Bangkal, Ulas, Catalunan Pequeño, and Buhangin remained within the Department of Energy’s (DOE) prescribed range on Sunday, March 9, 2026, but supplies ran out in some gas stations.
At a gas station in Ulas, diesel had run out by early dawn on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
“Ang diesel lang gyud ang among ginabalibaran karon, pero sa gasolina kay okay man kay naa man mi product. Ang amoa man gud diria is usually mga PO namo then mga prepaid. Ginakuha man gud nila is tag 100 liters, 160 liters mao nga dali ra mahurot ang among diesel diria,” gas station supervisor, Donna Santos, said.
Although oil companies are scheduled to adjust prices on Tuesday, the gas station said it has yet to receive any notice of price changes.
“Same lang gihapon kay wala pamay advise sa amoa kung magsaka ba mi ugma,” Santos added.
Meanwhile, a gas station in Catalunan Pequeño had already run out of gasoline on Saturday night.
The station also started controlling how much customers can bring in gallons.
“Wala nay supply karon sa regular ug premium, ang gabie nahurot ang regular unya ganina premium ang nahurot,” gas station attendant, Annie Purol, said.
The station attendant said she does not know yet when the new supply will arrive. As a result, they are concerned that a delayed restock could affect their work.
DOE continues to conduct strict inspections to ensure that no one takes advantage of the Middle East crisis, especially regarding petroleum product prices.
During inspections and price monitoring conducted by the DOE Mindanao Field Office at several gas stations in Tagum City and Davao City on Friday, March 6, 2026, one station was found to have increased its prices earlier than the scheduled price adjustment date.
The price was reverted to last week’s level to follow the proper schedule for price movements.
DOE also noted that some stations raised their prices because their own procurement costs from the depot had increased.
“Amo silang ginapakiusapan na kung pwede ay ibalik na lang nila but meron talagang iba na based sa delivery receipt, talagang mataas na ‘yung kuha nila sa mga port depot. And then, we reported that one. So we will be waiting for further instruction on how to handle such scenarios,” DOE Mindanao Field Office Director, Engr. Nilo Geroche, said.
The gas station explained that they would incur losses if they did not raise prices, as their costs from the depots had already gone up.
“Ang uban kay murag miingon na lang nga mo-stop. And then, based sa report, sa feedback sa mga staff, ang uban gyud nagbagutbot kay malugi man ta ani. So, naa'y option nga dili lang usa sila magbaligya at a lower price kasi malugi talaga sila,” Geroche added.
