A group of men figured in a brawl during the 28th founding anniversary concert of Samal Island in Barangay Penaplata on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

The incident, which was captured on video, occurred around 2 a.m.

Police said the altercation stemmed from an alleged touching incident involving a woman, who reported to her male relative that she was groped by a member of another group.

“Kining babae nagtug-an sa iyang paryente na lalaki, allegedly nahipuan daw siya nag-escalate ni og sa kalagot sa paryente nga naa’y kauban nga grupo gitudlo sa babae ang other party nga grupo nga isa didto ang allegedly nga nihipo sa iya mao to niresulta, nag-create og commotion,” Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Lt. Vanessa Quibel, said.

No formal complaints were filed by the parties involved.

However, seven of the members involved in the fight surrendered to Mayor Toto Reyes.

The seven individuals were penalized with community service, including cleaning public areas and canals as part of their punishment for disturbing public order.

“Gina-awhag nato sila sama sa ginaingon, ang pag-inom isulod sa tiyan dili sa panghuna-huna. Imbes nga malingaw ta sa kalingawan naka-cause na hinoon ta og kagubot,” Quibel added.
