The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Negros Island Region (NIR) is set to issue a show cause order against a man who punched a senior citizen during an altercation on the road in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
A video uploaded on social media showed bystanders getting in between an old man with blood in his face and the man who allegedly punched him.
The incident happened on the national highway in Barangay Salvacion in Murcia on March 8, 2026.
The police said the two men figured in an argument after the old man who was driving a car out of a resort almost hit the other man who was driving a motorcycle.
Sabi ng driver ng motorsiklo, muntik raw siyang mabangga,” said Major Honey Labaro, chief of the Murcia Municipal Police Station.
The senior citizen was identified as Luisito Tubongbanua, 67, a former president of the Association of Barangay Captains in Murcia. He and his family chose not to issue a statement.
The suspect, Patric Demapanag, 30, has since apologized and said he lost control of his temper at that time.
But charges for serious physical injury were still filed against him.
The LTO also said an order will be issued for him to explain why his license should not be revoked because of what happened.
Hindi na dapat na saktan,” said Jeck Conlu, OIC Regional Director of the Land Transportation Office in Negros Island Region (NIR).
