Authorities rescued 14 people from a distressed motorboat in the waters near Kangan Island in Panglima Tahil, Sulu on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Personnel of the Coast Guard Station Western Sulu (CGSWS) said the motorboat was navigating the waters off Barangay Kabukan when a leak in its hull caused water to penetrate the vessel.
This prompted its crew to request for assistance.
CGSWS deployed a rescue team immediately and all passengers were brought safely back to their families.
The boat was transporting 14 passengers and 20 solar panels to Teomabal Island when the incident happened.
