Authorities in Cabanatuan City recovered the body of a woman from an irrigation canal in Barangay Cabu afternoon on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Residents reported seeing the victim floating in the canal, her feet protruding from a yellow sack, and immediately alerted local authorities. Police identified her later as a 56-year-old resident of General Natividad.

Investigators said the woman’s husband had also been found dead in a separate irrigation canal in Barangay Popolon, Palayan City, two days earlier on March 9.

Authorities recovered the couple’s motorcycle in Barangay Bravo, General Natividad, on the same day the woman’s body was discovered.

Initial police investigations suggest that the couple may have been murdered and their bodies dumped in the Palayan irrigation canal, with water currents carrying the woman’s body downstream to Cabanatuan.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the deaths. Relatives of the victims have yet to issue a statement as of press time.
