The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has reminded the public to practice fire safety and avoid using cheap wires after a mini resort in Barangay Anuling, Patikul, Sulu was razed by fire, leaving one worker injured.
The fire broke out around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, affecting a house with a swimming pool.
Authorities said the fire was put out after nearly an hour, preventing it from spreading to houses nearby.
However, a worker sustained minor burns and is currently receiving treatment, as of this writing.
Investigators believe the fire may have been caused by an electrical line problem, though investigation still continues.
The cost of damage has yet to be determined.
BFP-Patikul Fire Marshal, SFO3 Idris Anuddin, reminded the public to avoid overloading circuits, “octopus” connections, and cheap or substandard wiring, which can easily spark fires.
“Huwag gumamit ng basta-basta na electrical wire, karamihan kasi sa mga residential, mga business owner, bumibili ng mga mumurahin na mga electrical wires kasi it may cause fire,” Anuddin said.
