Major parts of Cagayan de Oro City are expected to experience low water pressure to no water supply for four days due to line repair works of the Cagayan de Oro City Water District’s (COWD) bulk water supplier.
In an advisory, COWD said this will be the first of four phases of the rehabilitation project of COWD’s bulk water supplier, Cagayan de Oro Bulkwater, Inc. (COBI).
The repair works are scheduled from 8 a.m. of March 17 to 7 p.m. of March 20, 2026, but it may be shortened if the repairs are completed earlier.
COWD said that during the rehabilitation period, COBI will continue supplying water but at a reduced flow rate.
The west line will deliver 40 million liters per day (MLD) instead of the usual 60 MLD while the east line will supply 10 MLD instead of 20 MLD.
Areas expected to experience low water pressure include Barra, Opol; Regency 1, 2, 3, Iponan; Patag; Apovel, Bulua; Patag Zone 1 &2; and District 6 Canitoan in the west side and JR Borja Extension; Cronin, Adela Subdivision and Bontong, Camaman-an; Kolambog, Lapasan; and CUMC & Eastbound Terminal, Gusa in the east side.
Meanwhile, no water in Zone 1 Barra, Opol; Lower Zone 8 Bulua; Zone 1 Bayabas; NHA, Kauswagan; Balaos, Iponan; Villamar & Cambridge Subdivision; Zone 4 Looc Canitoan; and Zone & 2, Pagatpat in the west side and Tibasak, Corona Drive, Macasandig; Richmond Hills, Ayesa, Upper Camaman-an; and Sta. Cecilia Phase 2, Gusa in the east side.
COWD said its production wells will operate at full or maximized capacity to help maintain water supply in the city.
However, residents may experience low water pressure and possible temporary water interruptions, especially in elevated areas.
Residents needing water delivery during the interruption period are advised to coordinate with their respective barangay officials, who will then coordinate directly with the team in charge of water delivery.
After the first phase, a healing period of about two weeks will follow, during which water delivery from COBI to COWD is expected to return to normal.
COWD details of the second phase of the rehabilitation project will be announced later to allow residents enough time to prepare and store water.
