Up to 4,864 jeepney drivers and operators in Northern Mindanao are set to receive P5,000 financial assistance from the government to help lessen the impact of rising fuel prices.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Northern Mindanao (LTFRB-10) said the cash aid is under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
LTFRB-10 Director, Aljo Bendijo, said the number of beneficiaries was finalized after the deadline of submission ended on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Bendijo said there will be no extension for submissions.
DSWD will distribute the financial assistance.
“Ang PUJ kahapon lang po yung deadline wala na’y extension pasayloa mi kay mao man to among gipaningkamutan (kaya) pakiusap namin sa mga PUJ drivers na pakibilisan ang pagsubmit ng listahan para sa AICS,” Bendijo said.
Bendijo added that the deadline for taxi operators and drivers to submit their requirements for the same program is set on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
“So huwat-huwat lang ta pagmakumpleto once we complete ang atong listahan then ang dswd na ang bahala sa pag-apod-apod aning mga ayuda nato,” Bendijo added.
“Maayo na lang pud baya na kay dako kayong tabang sa amoa nga mga drayber nga makadawat ana,” a taxi driver, Mark Oliver Escoña, said.
LTFRB-10 also said that aside from the AICS, the agency is also processing the fuel subsidy program for qualified transport operators.
