A vice mayor in Camiguin was arrested with suspected shabu and a firearm after authorities served a search warrant in Barangay North Poblacion, Guinsiliban town shortly before midnight on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Northern Mindanao (PDEA-10) arrested the suspect they identified only as “Tata,” 66.

During the operation, authorities confiscated five sachets of suspected shabu worth around P102,000, drug paraphernalia, a caliber 9mm pistol, and ammunition.

PDEA-10 said the suspect, considered a high value target due to his status as an elected official, did not resist arrest.

“Fortunately, as per report submitted wala man pud, wala man nahitabo nga resistance on the part sa atong subject aning search warrant,” PDEA-10 Director, Alex Tablate, said.

PDEA-10 said the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities had long been monitored.

“On our part as operatives we are more focused didto sa ebidensya and with these anti-drug operation atong napamatud-an nga nag-posses siya og illegal drugs particularly shabu,” Tablate added.

The suspect will face charges for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165).
