A barangay chairman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in General Mamerto Natividad, Nueva Ecija morning on Tursday, March 17, 2026.
The victim, the chairman of Barangay Kabulihan, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the attack that happened around 8 a.m. He was rushed to a hospital but died later from his injuries.
The suspects fled the scene after the shooting.
A farmer was also caught in the incident and was brought to the hospital. Authorities said the farmer is now in stable condition.
Relatives of the victims declined to comment.
Police have yet to release a statement as investigation continues, as of press time. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting follow-up operations to identify and arrest the suspects and determine the motive behind the killing.
