A 69-year-old man accused of killing a retired teacher in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental was arrested in Consolacion, Cebu after nearly four years of hiding.

Police identified the suspect as alias “Manong,” a ‘habal-habal’ driver tagged as the second most wanted person.

According to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), the suspect allegedly shot the retired teacher in Barangay Caniangan, Tangub City on November 2, 2022.

Police officers responded to the area and found the victim lying on the ground. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead later.

Based on investigation, the victim was shot by the suspect during a land negotiation.

PRO-10 said a court in Tangub City issued an arrest warrant and did not allow the suspect to post bail.

“Hindi naging hadlang ang distansya para mahanap at maaresto ang akusado. This shows na ang batas ay patuloy na umiiral, at walang sinuman ang makakatakas sa hustisya. We will continue to pursue fugitives of the law to ensure that justice is served and our communities remain safe,” PRO-10 Director, Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, said.
