A hardware store in Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City was gutted by fire on Thursday, March 19, 2026, causing damage amounting to more than P6.4 million.
The fire broke out at past 9 a.m., which caused traffic congestion along the national highway.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire may have started from the second floor of the building where thick smoke was seen billowing.
Personnel of the establishment tried to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher but failed due to the presence of highly combustible materials inside the structure.
No one was reported injured in the incident.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, as of this writing.
