Authorities arrested two men and rescued five people, including minors, during a series of operations against online sexual abuse or exploitation of children (OSAEC in Mati City, Davao Oriental.
In the first operation, a man was arrested while four alleged victims of online sexual exploitation were rescued. The victims included a minor, two individuals presented as minors, and another child classified as a “child-at-risk.”
In a follow-up operation, another man was arrested, and a minor girl was rescued, who was allegedly being exploited sexually online.
During the operations, authorities recovered several electronic devices believed to contain child sexual abuse and exploitation materials (CSAEM).
The suspects will face charges for violations of Republic Act 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act (CSAEM) and other related laws.
The Philippine National Police Women and Children Protection Center-Mindanao Field Unit said it will intensify efforts against OSAEC and urged the public to help protect children by reporting any suspicious activities.
