A third alarm fire hit a poultry storage facility in Barangay Tuy-an, Cabatuan, Iloilo and left structural damage pegged at P76.7 million.
Firefighters said it was difficult to put the fire out.
“Ang kanyang walling made of plastic, ang insulation niya. The same rin sa ceiling at sa ilalim, ang kanyang matting is made of plastic,” said SF04 Jemboy Pacardo, fire marshal at the Cabatuan BFP.
Fortunately, the owner of the facility has processed the chickens stored there in the first week of March.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has started investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fire.
“Merong kinuha tayo doon na mga samples like, for example, sa mga electrical nila. And kumuha rin tayo doon ng samples for possible na makapag-lead rin sa ating investigation,” Pacardo said.
Workers present at the facility during the fire declined to comment without permission from management.
One Western Visayas tried to get a comment from the owner of the poultry farm but the owner was attending an activity at that time.
