Several contraband items were seized during a surprise Oplan Greyhound operation at the Misamis Occidental Provincial Reformatory Jail in Oroquieta City.

During the operation, police and jail officers searched cells of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).

Among the items confiscated were improvised bladed weapons, scissors, playing cards, nail cutters, cutter blades, cigarettes, needles, and other prohibited materials.

According to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), the operation was conducted to ensure that inmates are not hiding illegal items such as guns, drugs, and other weapons inside the cells.

“Para gyud nga masiguro nga walay mga ginatago nga mga kontrabando kining mga Persons Deprived of Liberty sama sa mga armas, droga ug uban pang mga butang nga gindili sa sulod sa prisohan,” PRO-10 Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

The surprise inspection also aims to prevent potential safety threats and maintain order within the detention facility.

“Mapasalamaton pud kita kay wala man pud nga mga pagdumili ilabi na on the part sa atoang mga piniriso nga anaa sa maong jail facility,” Navarro added.

PDLs found in possession of contraband are set to face additional penalties.
