A barangay tanod died after the motorcycle he was driving fell into a drainage canal in Barangay Fatima, General Santos City dawn on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

The 46-year-old victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities also retrieved the victim’s motorcycle from the canal.

Police said, the victim had come from a drinking session and was believed to be under the influence of alcohol at that time.

His companions reportedly advised him not to leave due to his condition, but he allegedly insisted on going home.

Police added that the victim reportedly told his fellow tanods that he was dealing with a family problem.

“Ginapugngan pa siya sa mga kauban nga ayaw lakaw lagi siyempre nakainum na, so namilit siya nga mohawa ug gi-istorya pud niya sa mga kauban tanod nga dunay family problem sila sa iyang asawa,” Police Station 5 Commander, Major Lemuel Enrijo, said.

Meanwhile, a tricycle driver died on the spot after a wing van truck crashed into the vehicle he was riding in Barangay Kayaga, Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur evening on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Based on investigation, the tricycle was hit suddenly by the approaching truck. Due to the strong impact, the victim sustained severe injuries that led to his immediate death.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
