At least three families were displaced after a fire razed their houses in Barangay Poblacion, Polomolok, South Cotabato.

The fire broke out at two houses around 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. No one was around inside the houses at that time.

The fire also reportedly spread to the kitchen of a house nearby.

“Nagtan-aw ko og TV, tapos nagsinggit ang among silingan ug ang akung bana nga nag-CR sunog daw, ninggawas dayun ko. Pagtan aw nako daku na ang kalayo diri. Mao tung ningdagan ko sulud gi-down naku ang planka,” a resident affected, Wilma Pimentel, said.

Firefighters responded immediately and put out the fire within 30 minutes.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, two houses were destroyed and one was damaged. Two of the three families affected are staying temporarily at the evacuation center.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, considering factors such as the hot weather and possible electrical line issues.

“Pero isa sa ginatan-aw natu is kainit sa panahon ug siyempre residential siya naay part didto mga maglantaw ta regarding sa electrical and also factors nga pwedeng makahatag og hazard,” BFP Polomolok Public Information Unit Chief, FO3 Ainee Figueroa, said.

BFP has yet to determine the cost of damage, as of this writing.
