A fisherman who had been missing at sea for five days was rescued by authorities near Bajo de Masinloc off Zambales, the Philippine Coast Guard said.

The 32-year-old fisherman, a resident of Wawanway in Subic, was found on March 20 after he was reported missing when his service boat failed to return.

The Philippine Coast Guard said it coordinated with the BRP Cape San Agustin to determine the fisherman’s last known position, which guided the search operations.

Rescuers later found the fisherman’s boat about 78.98 nautical miles west of Capon Grande Island.

Authorities brought the fisherman and his boat onboard and provided him with first aid after the rescue.
