A suspected group of young individuals has broken into a kindergarten center in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental while the school was on a break.
A teacher who visited the National Child Development Center on March 24, 2026 was surprised to see the things in a classroom strewn around and the walls vandalized.
The center had its recognition day on March 20 and no longer held classes after that. No one also visited the school the next three days.
“Kasi noong Friday, mayroong recognition. After nun, wala nang pasok, isinara na ang school. Tapos noong Saturday, Sunday until Monday, hindi nabisitahan,” said Bobeth Cervanez, captain of Barangay 2.
The suspects also stole food and power cables from the school.
The police said the suspects may have learned that the school would be empty so they took advantage of the situation.
“Base sa investigation, 4-5 persons. Walang CCTV sa area. Kung titingnan natin, mostly ang mga kabataan, may grupo. Baka na-monitor nila na walang tao every night,” said Lt. Peter Genovia, Deputy Chief of the Himamaylan City Police Station.
