The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 is on full alert to ensure the observance of the Holy Week will be peaceful.

PRO-7 Director, P/BGen. Redrico Maranan, said up to 10,000 policemen will secure the region, especially places expected to generate crowds like churches, terminals, and ports.

Region 7 is now composed only of Cebu and Bohol after Negros Oriental and Siquijor became part of the new Negros Island Region.

“Dahil nga po tayo ay naka-full alert, maraming pulis po tayong makikita at merong more stringent security measures na ipatutupad sa mga bus terminal, seaports, and other places,” Maranan said.

He said the PNP simply wants to ensure peace and order, and that there is no security threat in the region.

In Cebu, Maranan was joined by police chiefs in inspecting a bus terminal days before the Holy Week, which falls on the first week of April.

He also called on the public to cooperate with authorities, including personnel from the Land Transportation Office; Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board; and local government units so that the observance of the Holy Week will be orderly.
