Authorities destroyed seized illegal drugs and expired medicines worth more than P142 million in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Northern Mindanao (PDEA-10) said the illegal substances were disposed of through thermal decomposition at a funeral home.

PDEA-10 Director Alex Tablate said the total value of the destroyed items reached P142,109,254, making it the largest volume and value of drug destruction in the region since 2010 or 2011.

“So far, sa atong mga drug destruction activities diri sa Northern Mindanao way back 2010 o 2011 mao ni ang pinakadaghan og volume pinakadako nga amount,” Tablate said.

Among those destroyed were around 20,849.68 grams of shabu, more than two kilos of marijuana, and various expired medicines from pharmacies worth more than P61,000.

“The huge amount aning drugs particularly kaning shabu nasunog apil diri katung more or less 17 kilos nga na-ceased nato last November 2025 operation. So mao ni ang majority sa nasunog nato,” Tablate added.

Tablate said the destroyed illegal drugs were presented previously as evidence in courts, and their disposal was carried out following a court order.

PDEA-10 added that the destruction aimed to assure the public that confiscated illegal drugs are properly disposed of and not recycled by authorities.
